Welcome to the manual handling section of your Health and Safety Essentials course. This section is designed to help you to understand some of the main principles of manual handling; the approach to this training is structured to ensure that you achieve the objectives below:

• Identify the costs associated with manual handling injury.
• To understand the legal requirements and rules that surround manual handling.
• Learn the safe lifting technique and put it into practice.
• Gain knowledge of the principles of TILE assessment.
• Outline actions that can be implemented to reduce the risk of injury.

No previous training or knowledge of manual handling is required before beginning this section.

There is a short multiple-choice test at the end of the section, all questions are based on the information presented.
