Food Preparation Surfaces & Equipment
A good way to clean effectively is to follow these six steps:
- Remove obvious food and dirt from surfaces and equipment.
- Use hot water diluted with detergent to remove grease and remaining food/dirt.
- It is important to then rinse the area with clean water to remove the detergent and any loosened food/dirt.
- Use a disinfectant to kill any bacteria.
- If rinsing is included on the detergent instructions then rinse with clean water to remove disinfectant.
- If possible, dry naturally, or dry with a clean disposable cloth.
Remember to never just wipe surfaces and equipment clean with a damp towel, as this can spread the bacteria around instead of eradicated it.
