Rules that affect Food Handlers
Any person who handles food is legally obliged to meet certain levels of hygiene and food safety. These include:
- Reporting any symptoms which could indicate a foodborne illness before starting their shift. The employer will advise of actions they must take, these actions must then be complied with
- Cuts should be reported to a supervisor and covered with a suitable protective dressing. If the wound is septic then a significant threat is posed to the environment by harmful bacteria
- All policies and procedures set by the employer regarding food hygiene and safety must be followed
